On July 4, 2025, colleagues from the College of African Wildlife Management in Mweka, Tanzania (https://www.mwekawildlife.ac.tz/public/) visited the Tatra Biosphere Reserve as part of the Erasmus Plus program with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Informatics, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. The visitors watched a current documentary about the Tatra Mountains at the TANAP Museum. This was followed by a meeting with an employee of the TANAP Administration, Ing. Miroslav Gregor, who described in detail the history of the area, natural conditions and explained current problems in the area. We continued with lunch at the traditional restaurant Stará mama in Tatranská Lomnica, where colleagues from Africa tasted bryndza dumplings and we introduced them to our traditional dishes and customs. This was followed by a walk around Štrbské pleso with an explanation and a visit to Slepý pleso, where we informed them about the research underway in cooperation with ILE SAS and Faculty of Natural Sciences and Informatics, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Finally, we visited Liptovská Mara, where we informed our colleagues about the formation of the lake and the current water loss. As part of the free discussion, we also discussed the issues of research at ILE SAS and the issue of biosphere reserves in Slovakia.
